Aline Beth Marshall

Bicca Gomes

Vancouver born, Bica has been studying art and pottery for 10 years. She has a degree from Capilano University and studied with Sam Kwan for 6 years focusing on functional pottery and sculpture. Making functional pottery is an ancient form of art and alchemy. Clay, silica and water combined with other natural elements and oxides when fired to a high temperature transform into beautifully colored, solid, durable, waterproof containers. The majority of her work has been fired to Cone 10 in a gas reduction Kiln. She primarily uses traditional Asian glazes such as, shino, temeko, khaki, green celadon and ash both on her functional vessels and sculptural works.
